About

1 Peter 4:10
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

This verse is the heart of our ministry.  We recognize that the gifts God bestows vary from person to person, as do the needs of dealing with a critical illness differ from family to family.  Agape Love Servants Ministry operates under the direction and leadership of Pastoral Care at First Baptist Church Woodstock.  We are a service-oriented ministry to families who are members of FBCW and have a seriously or terminally ill loved one.  These services include, but are not limited to: meal preparation, housecleaning, yardwork, grocery shopping, banking, other general errands, spiritual and emotional support, and bereavement care.

Once a family need has been established, we meet with them to assess the needs and determine if both the family and ALS feel that they would benefit from our services.  After that, a Care Leader is assigned and a care plan is put in place.  We begin to enlist the help of Sunday School classes, other ministries that the family or patient is involved with, and friends and neighbors.  A monthly calendar is developed and given to the family to show the “who, what, where, when and how”.  This keeps the family up-to-date on what to expect.

ALS provides support for the primary caregiver of the patient and family.  When faced with a critical illness, caregivers often struggle with how to provide the love and care the patient needs and still maintain day to day tasks.  Many times the caregiver will work themselves into exhaustion or illness, usually referred to as caregiver breakdown.  Our main goal is to take away the bulk of those tasks which allows the caregiver to focus on their loved one, leaving the rest to us.   This becomes an open door to achieving another of our goals: to share the love of Jesus Christ and have an opportunity to openly share the Gospel of His saving grace.
